About and privacy
Home Energy Grant Finder is a free, independent site. It lists every grant, discount and free help we know of for making a UK home warmer and cheaper to run, and shows which ones fit you. We're not the government, Ofgem, a council or an energy company, and we don't sell anything or pass on your details.
How it works
Your postcode tells us your nation, your council, whether the area is rural, and (in England) whether it's one of the 20% most deprived neighbourhoods in the English Indices of Deprivation 2025. Some grants are open to everyone living in those areas whatever they earn. Your answers about your home and household are then matched against each scheme's rules.
"You look eligible" means your answers meet every rule we know about. "Worth checking" means you might qualify but we need an answer you haven't given, or the scheme checks something we can't. Only the scheme itself can say yes, so always check with them before you spend money or sign anything.
Where the details come from
Every scheme was checked against its official page: GOV.UK, Ofgem, the Welsh Government, the Scottish Government and Home Energy Scotland, nidirect and the Housing Executive, councils, and each energy company or charity's own site. Each result shows the date we checked it and links to the page. Postcode facts come from postcodes.io (Ordnance Survey and Office for National Statistics data, Open Government Licence).
Energy certificate data
When you pick your address, the energy rating comes from the GOV.UK energy certificate register (Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government). The ratings and other non-address details are under the Open Government Licence v3.0. We use the addresses only so you can find your own home's rating to see which energy efficiency grants fit it, and we don't keep them beyond a week's cache. The address data is used under this notice:
